The rule

OSHA Table D-1

OSHA 1926.51(c) sets the legal minimum toilet count on construction sites. Table D-1 bases the count on crew size.

Small crew

20 or fewer workers

A crew of 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 toilet.

Mid-size crew

20 to 199 workers

Plan at least 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal for every 40 workers.

Large crew

200 or more workers

Plan at least 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal for every 50 workers.

Our advice

1 per 10 workers

The legal minimum can mean long lines. With weekly service, we suggest 1 unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week.

Clean hands

Plan for handwashing

OSHA 1926.51(f) covers washing facilities. A hand wash station or a unit with a sink lets crews clean up before lunch.

Service

Weekly service included

Each 28-day rental includes weekly pump-out, washing, sanitizing and restocking. Busy crew? Add twice-weekly service.
