What should you do in the first hour after the water goes out?
In the first hour without water, learn how long the outage will last. Then count who needs a restroom. Next, order units before 12 PM for same-day delivery, Monday through Saturday. Those 3 steps decide whether the building stays open that afternoon.
- Get a time estimateAsk the plumber, the city or your water district how long repairs should take.
- Count headsAdd up staff on each shift plus the visitors you expect each day.
- Order by noonCall before 12 PM for same-day porta potty delivery.
- Pick the spotChoose level pavement near the door staff use, with a 4-foot path for our crew.
- Tell peoplePost signs on the restroom doors that point to the units outside.
How many porta potties does your staff need?
Plan about 1 porta potty for every 10 staff on a full workday. That is the guideline we use for crews. Buildings open to the public add 1 unit per 50 visitors for each 4-hour stretch. Any public building should also add at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit.
| Building | People | Standard units | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small office | 10 staff | 1 | Unit with a sink, or 1 hand wash station |
| Shop or warehouse | 25 staff | 3 | 1 hand wash station |
| Large office | 50 staff | 5 | 2 hand wash stations |
| Church service, 2 hours | 150 guests | 3 | 1 accessible unit |
| School event, 3 hours | 300 guests | 6 | 1 accessible unit, hand washing if food |
When food is served, plan 1 hand wash station for every 3 toilets. Use the porta potty calculator for other head counts.

Does a public building need an accessible unit and hand washing?
A public building should have at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit in each group of restrooms. The 2010 ADA Standards call for at least 5% of units in each cluster to be accessible, minimum 1. Hand washing matters too, since the building sinks are off along with the toilets.
- Accessible unit: ground-level entry, a 32-inch door and handrails. See the wheelchair-accessible porta potty.
- Hand wash station: two foot-pump sinks, about 350 uses per fill per the maker. See hand wash station rentals.
- Food businesses: check with your local health department about hand washing for food workers.
- Schools: check with the district office about student use and supervision.
Read the federal text in the Access Board's ADA §213.2. This is not legal advice.
Where should porta potties go at a business?
Porta potties at a business belong on level pavement near the staff entrance. Our crew needs a 4-foot path. Keep them out of fire lanes, drive aisles and accessible parking spaces. A spot near a light pole helps on early and late shifts.
- Leave the accessible unit on a smooth, flat path from the building.
- Face doors away from the street and toward the building.
- Tell us about gates, loading docks and the hours the lot is open.

How long should you keep the units?
Keep the units until the plumber signs off and the building restrooms work again. Outages of 3 days or less fit the event rate. Longer or unknown repairs fit 28-day billing with weekly service. Rush orders cancel free right up until the truck leaves.
| Outage length | Rental type | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Same day only | Event rate | Arrives clean and stocked |
| 1–3 days | Event rate | Service between days if needed |
| More than 3 days | 28-day cycle | Weekly pump-out and restock |
| Unknown | 28-day cycle | Stop with 2 business days' notice |
Long repairs, like a sewer line replacement, fit our monthly porta potty rentals. Approved schools, churches and government buyers can pay by PO.
Plumbing outage restroom questions
These 6 answers cover what office managers, pastors and school staff ask when the water stops. They explain same-day timing, short outages, early repairs, PO billing, accessible units and nicer options for clients. Prices are starting rates before Texas sales tax.
Our water main broke this morning. Can you get units here today?
Units can arrive this afternoon when you order by noon, Monday to Saturday. That works inside our same-day zone, with a rush fee from $75.
The city says the water is off for 2 days. Do I pay for a whole month?
Two days without water falls under our short-term event rate. Each standard unit begins at $195 for up to 3 days, and delivery with pickup adds $60.
What if the plumber fixes it before you get here?
Cancelling a rush order costs nothing as long as the truck has not left the yard. Let the dispatcher know the moment your water is back.
We're a school. Can the district pay on a PO?
Districts, government offices and businesses with an approved account get net-30 invoice terms. Include your PO number when you place the order, and the bill goes to it.
Do we need a wheelchair-accessible unit for our church?
A church open to the public should have at least 1 accessible unit. Our accessible model begins at $245, for a weekend or a 28-day cycle.
Clients visit our office. Is there something nicer than a basic unit?
The deluxe flushable unit with a sink starts at $295 per weekend or per 28 days. A 2-stall restroom trailer starts at $1,195 per weekend and needs a 120V outlet.
