What is the difference between an event and a construction porta potty?

An event porta potty and a construction porta potty differ in care and billing, not in size. Event units are kept nicer for weekend guests and arrive cleaned, sanitized and stocked. Construction units are built for weekly service on a job site. They bill every 28 days instead of by the weekend.

Both are a standard unit about 43.5 inches wide, with a seat, urinal and paper holders. Full specs are in our porta potty comparison guide.

How does billing differ between event and job-site rentals?

Event rentals charge 1 price for the weekend window or up to 3 days. Job-site rentals charge per 28-day cycle with weekly service included, plus a one-time delivery and pickup charge. The 28-day cycle renews on its own until you ask for pickup. A cycle already started is not prorated.

  • Event timing: units arrive Friday and leave Monday for one price. Ask if you need a Saturday-morning drop instead.
  • Job-site timing: the unit arrives on your start date and stays until you call or text.
  • Stopping a job-site rental: give 2 business days' notice before the cycle ends.
  • Paying: cards and debit work for both. Approved businesses can pay job-site rentals by PO.

Which porta potty fits a 3-day job?

A 3-day job usually fits the event rate, which covers up to 3 days. A short job needs no weekly service, so the event rate costs less than a full 28-day cycle. If the job could run past 3 days, start with the job-site rate instead. That way the unit does not need a swap.

Quick picks by job length
JobPickWhy
Roof tear-off, 2–3 daysEvent rateShort window, no service needed
Fence or concrete job, 1 weekJob-site rateRuns past 3 days
Bathroom remodel, 4–6 weeksJob-site rateWeekly service keeps it usable
New home buildJob-site rateMonths of use; OSHA crew counts apply

Crews of any size must meet the toilet counts in OSHA 1926.51. For long builds, see construction porta potty rentals.

Which porta potty fits a backyard party?

A backyard party fits an event porta potty. Plan 1 unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours. Add units for longer parties or when drinks are served. For a nicer setup, choose a deluxe flushable unit, and add a hand wash station when food is served.

Get the count from our porta potty calculator. For timing and setup, read about event porta potty rentals.

A job-site unit can work at a party in a pinch, but event units look better for guests. The price is set for a weekend, so you pay less than a 28-day cycle.

Event vs. construction porta potty questions

These 5 answers cover what renters ask when choosing between the 2 rental types. They explain weekend pricing, short roof jobs and event units on job sites. They also cover jobs that run long. Prices are starting rates before tax.

Is that per day or for the whole weekend?

An event unit is one price for the whole weekend, Friday drop to Monday pickup. That weekend price begins at $195 per standard unit, and delivery with pickup adds $60.

I need one for a 3-day roof job. Which price do I get?

A 3-day job can use the event rate, from $195 plus $60 delivery and pickup. The job-site rate starts at $175 per 28 days, plus $65 delivery and $30 pickup.

Can I put an event unit on a job site?

An event unit can serve a short job of up to 3 days. Past that, the rental moves to the 28-day job-site plan with weekly service.

What if my 3-day job turns into 2 weeks?

Call or text us before the 3 days end. We can switch the rental to a 28-day cycle with weekly service.

Do construction units look worse than party units?

Construction units get the same cleaning but see heavy daily use. Event units are kept in nicer shape for guests, so they look better at a party.
